This Sunday will see the time old battle of student Vs teacher as ‘Prince Of Pace’ Callum Newman goes one on one with ‘Ariel Assassin’ Will Ospreay when RevPro returns to FITE for Epic Encounters Two.
This match came about after Ospreay tasted pinfall defeat at the hands of RKJ in his first contest back after lockdown at Epic Encounters One. With a large number of high profile RevPro roster members gunning for that Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, Ospreay felt he needed a ‘tune up’ match before he faces his next challenge in form the Kyle Fletcher and the man he picked, was his young protégé.
At just 18 years of age, Newman can do things that wrestlers (not called Will Ospreay) could only imagine. He without a doubt has the potential to become the future of this business. But whether he fulfils that potential will depend very much on how he encounters challenges like the one that faces him at Epic Encounters Two.
Make no mistake, when they train together Newman is training with the best, but he’s not getting Will Ospreay’s best and on Sunday for the first time, Newman will feel the full force of Will Ospreay’s blows. But The Prince of Pace wouldn’t want or expect any less for he knows if he is to reach another level he needs to put himself in these pressure situations and embrace them.
Reminiscent in many ways of Will Ospreay’s initial clash with Ricochet in Sittingbourne all those years ago, this could well go down in history as the first contest in an epic rivalry as the student begins his journey towards trying to surpass his teacher. This is a match you don’t want to miss!
