With many new fans taking advantage of the 2 week free trial available to new subscribers over on RPW On Demand following the conclusion of the highly anticipated High Stakes 2022 event, We would like to take this opportunity to highlight some outstanding matches from across the last year that might have slipped under the radar.
Francesco Akira vs Luke Jacobs
Monday December 27th, St Neots
At the tail end of 2021, Luke Jacobs and Francesco Akira went one on one at the Priory Centre in St Neots. Both men had their sights set on the Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship as they levelled one another with vicious strikes knowing a future title opportunity was within arms reach should they pick up the victory and climb the rankings in Revolution Pro Wrestling. With Akira and Jacobs both fighting with the same goal in mind, you can guarantee they put every ounce of energy walking away the victor.
Alex Windsor vs Gisele Shaw
Sunday October 10th, Southampton
Last October, we saw Alex Windsor make her return to Revolution Pro Wrestling after a four year hiatus away from the ring. She wasted no time in pushing herself to discover her limits as she took on the Undisputed British Women’s Champion Gisele Shaw. Being awarded the main event slot on the card, Windsor knew that in using the champion as a measuring stick, she’d get a very accurate reading on how much work she needed to put in to be at the top of the mountain in the women’s division. Windsor looked to prove that Iron Willed isn’t just a moniker but a character trait and if there is anyone who was going to bring the best out of Alex no matter what, it’s the Quintessential Diva, Gisele Shaw.
Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship Match Will Ospreay vs Doug Williams
Saturday August 21st, Manchester
Two of British wrestling's greatest exports collided at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester as we celebrated our 9 year anniversary. This was Ospreay’s first professional wrestling match since sustaining an injury in April that forced NJPW to strip him of the IWGP World Championship and put his future in jepordy.
In the lead up to the contest Ospreay was outspoken, stating that he is the greatest wrestler of the 21st century and conducted himself in anything but a sporting like manner.
In contrast to Ospreay’s behaviour Doug Williams had always carried himself as a consumute professional and expressed his disappointment in the behaviour of Ospreay and looked to knock the leader of the United Empire down a few pegs in this generational heavyweight championship clash.
Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship Match\
Michael Oku vs Chris Ridgeway
Sunday October 3rd, London
If you listened closely to Gideon Grey throughout the summer last year, you’d have been sick of hearing him singing the praises of Chris Ridgeway. He made it very clear that he believes Ridgeway is one of the best junior heavyweights in the world today and was the uncrowned Undisputed British Cruiserweight Champion but in order to officially grant himself that title, he would have to overcome Michael Oku. The never say die attitude of Oku would be heavily tested here and with this possibly being his toughest defence to date, he would have to fight with everything in his body to keep that championship belt being from being kicked out of his hands.
‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey vs Connor Mills
Saturday November 21st, Huntingdon
With Connor Mills on a mission to prove himself as a singles wrestler after losing the Undisputed British Tag Team Championships back in September, he collided with the winner of the 2021 British J Cup ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey. Speedball was just over 24 hours away from challenging Michael Oku for the Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship in York Hall so you can place secure bets on Connor Mills reporting back any words of advice or possibly even weakening the challenger ahead of his clash with his best friend. Don’t let the shape or size of a venue fool you as both men put on a fantastic match in the Commemoration Hall proving no matter the venue, the stars bring of RevPro always bring pro wrestling at its best!
All of these contests are available for streaming and digital download now over on RPWOnDemand.com. If you haven’t done so already, get yourself a 2 week free trial if you’re a new subscriber. $8.49 / £6.25 per month with no commitments. RPWOnDemand is available via web/iOS/Android/Roku.
